Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
