Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match offered a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.
Control Asserted from the Start
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
